Lisa R. Tennant is a designer, illustrator and fine artist. She earned a BFA in Painting & Graphic Design, and an MFA in Studio Art with a concentration in Watercolor Painting from Eastern Michigan University.
Ms. Tennant has received a number of awards for her art and design, including: Excellence in Illustration Award from the EMU Cellar Roots publication, EMU Graduate Candidates Exhibition Purchase Award, Scarab Club 60th Annual Watercolor Exhibition Best of Show Award, and Michigan Water Color Society Founders Memorial Award. She has been an APEX winner for the last five years (2008-2012) from Writing That Works publication, and received two American Graphic Design Awards in 2010, one in 2011, and one In-House American Graphic Design Awards in 2012 from Graphic Design USA magazine.
With a passion to tell the story of her daughter’s adoption, Ms. Tennant began writing and illustrating the tale as a picture book for ages 3+. The artist works in a number of styles in media that include watercolor, gouache, pencil, charcoal, digital vector and photoillustration.
Ms. Tennant, a native of Michigan, now resides in sunny Florida with her husband and two children, six turtles, two tortoises, and one bunny rabbit.
